A little about our organization
The MFGA represents over 1,500 provincial flax growers. Our mandate is to improve economic returns and agronomic benefits to Manitoba flax growers through research, promotion and communication.
The Manitoba Flax Growers Association (MFGA) was established and incorporated in 1999 to represent the interest of Manitoba flax growers. Since that time, a flax commodity based check-off has been put in place. The check-off fee is structured differently than many other commodities. Our fee is 0.5% of the selling price of flax. Straw has a fee of 1% of the selling price.
Our goal is to increase profitability for flax producers by raising the status of flax through research. Thus, we are committed to participating financially and to be a team player with Saskatchewan Flax Development Commission (SFDC) and the Flax Council of Canada (FCC) in pursuing much needed plant breeding and agronomic research and development for flax production and enhancement in Canada.
